Questions about D.Gray Man!

I have a few questions about d.gray man:
1) who is apocryphos and why is he targeting Allen?!?
2) Can someone explain to me what happened in the chapters where Kanda "died"? I know he saw his old time friend but i don't get the events that taken place?

if u can answer these questions i would greatly appreciate it because i really need to clarify some of these

1. There is a lot of speculation on who or what appocryphos actually is. What we do know is he opposed the Noah before and is after Allen's innocence, presumably because him being a host to the 14th is unsafe for the innocence. There is a thread talking about it, but I'm not sure if the title suggests it or if it came about through discussion.

2. I'm not sure which parts specifically were confusing, but that whole arc was pretty disorganized. The gist I got from it was (highlight): Alma was the female Kanda was looking for from his old memories. Alma, however, did not want Kanda to know because then "she" would cease to be his main focus in life (finding that person). Kanda used up all of his life energy to defeat Alma, they escaped through the gate where Alma finally died at peace in Kanda's arms. Not sure if Kanda actually saw the vision of Alma walking away with the woman or if he more just felt at peace himself, but at least from what I can see he has closed that chapter. Whatever amount of energy he had left was, in my opinion, used to heal him at that time. However, now his ability is greatly diminished if it exists at all.

thank you for replying! why was kanda trying so hard to fight Alma then. He even wounded Allen because he was in the way. Also what happened when Alma and Kanda were young because i don't get the back story behind those two(also i couldn't figure out if Alma was a she or he but you cleared it up thanks.. definently a she)

Alma, as far as I can tell, was a boy. (highlighting again just in case) The soul was previously female. Kanda was trying to fight Alma for probably the same reasons he did back when they were kids; Alma was trying to kill everyone. He was so far gone in his anger and pain he wasn't thinking clearly. I'm sure Kanda knew this and did try at some points to knock him out of it. If nothing else, Kanda wanted Alma to be at peace and he knew Alma wasn't going to achieve that in life. If Kanda's intent was to just kill Alma, he wouldn't have gone with him.

I'm not sure which parts of their childhood you didn't understand. They both had lived previously and the brain (and soul is more what it seems) was implanted into a new body when they died, thus they were born as second generation exorcists. They were subjected to experiments to make them, or at least Kanda, synchronize with innocence. Because they were the only two, they bonded. Kanda retained some of his memories from his previous life about a woman. He didn't know Alma was now where her soul resided. Alma, looking for Kanda and fearing he would be terminated, realized the truth about the experiments the Black Order was doing and went ballistic. When Kanda found him he was murdering everyone. Because Kanda stood his ground and would not accept Alma's justification for taking lives needlessly, Alma attacked him. Kanda fought back and thought he had killed Alma and thus stopped his suffering. That is my take on it...
