Immediately after that, Allen regains his sense of self and it seems like his left eye is telling him something.
He looks at Alma and can see his soul.

It has the appearance of a young lady.

Kanda: Bean sprout...?
Allen: Alma, you're... (while thinking 'That can't be'?)

Alma attempts to self-destruct both himself and Kanda.

The cover page is a Yuu as a crying child, together with Alma as a child at a lotus pond.
A bird's eye view of Alma holding a lotus flower while looking at the reader as if responding to someone's call.
His feet are covered in mud.

Continuing from the previous chapter, is a two-page spread of the present situation.
Somewhere in the North American base.
Allen has lost consciousness after being Noah-fied.
Bak is working hard all alone.
Reever and gang are still paralyzed by the electrical discharge.
Fou is fighting Tyki, but Tyki is smiling because this fight to him is like a walk in the park.
The Earl and Road are looking down at them like spectators.

Kanda is dumbfounded as he comes to his senses, but Alma attacks him with a shock wave saying "This is the end for you"

"Die,"
Even as he glares at Alma, Kanda has lost his bloodthirstiness and cannot use any techniques.

"Wait, the two of you!!"
Reever tries his best to stop the two of them, but his shout does not reach Alma's ears.

However, between the two of them, Allen, who has collapsed, has his hand raised.
Light gathers in that hand and expands with terrifying speed/momentum
This is something that has been invoked due to his awaking as a Noah, but it manages to absorb and stop the clash of the two of them as a result.
Kanda manages to find his footing after being sent flying by the impact, but Alma, already on the verge of death, has been practically consumed by the impact, and is smashed into the wall.
He coughs blood, and falls like a little bird.

"Alma...!"

Kanda catches Alma the instant he falls, cradling him.
There is not a trace of hate or killing intent in his face.
Yuu's face merely shows concern for his old "friend".
Alma looks up at his face as he coughs violently.
And thus, he realizes.
"I've already passed the divide," he says
There is no need for Yuu and Alma to kill each other.
Neither is there a need for them to cross swords.

But, that's not good enough.
If that happens, Alma won't be able to end (peacefully?).

Putting the feelings of those 2 aside, Allen's awakening is progressing rapidly.
Kanda can do nothing but watch.
The aura enshrouding the dark Allen is essentially like a gigantic evil spirit.
In the middle of it, the Noah is laughing loudly.

"Ahahahahahahahaha" it laughs incessantly.

"What, what happened!?"
"The sound of the ground rumbling...?"
"That's weird... Wh-"
"Isn't that laughter...!?"

Bak and the rest are shaking.
[TN: the rest of this is mostly the spoiler author's opinion. I'm a little confused about some parts myself. I think I need to re-read some old chapters.]
The laughter is already filling up the pages (lol) It's horrific.
But, how could the laughter be called "the ground rumbling!?"
This awakening is much louder/flashier than that of either Wisely or Skin
But, comparing it to centipede dude Tyki, whose body is a modified human, it wasn't "stop it, joker (?) !"
Perhaps because he was just as a human, the 14th, Nea, is different from the underlings,
A unique high-ranking Noah.

No, the distinction in the way this is happening could just be simply because he (Allen) is the main character... laughs.

[TN: no seriously I have no clue what the spoiler author is talking about here]
The bride, no, if I think of the Earl as the 14th's bride, then this is the groom's awakening, right?
It brings me great delight to witness this. Well then, a happy ending!!
There are flowers in both the hands of both Wisely and Cyril, and yes, they do a toast and there's a dance.

"Thank you, Kanda Yuu
It's awakened
It's thanks to you having beaten Allen Walker to this state with your innocence!
It completely awoke the 14th who was lying dormant within him."

"Noahs will never forget their hate towards God (innocence)
The more injured they are, the more this hate is stoked."

Since he's the one who stabbed and killed Allen.
Kanda feels the responsibility befallen upon him with a "Gaan!!"
Since he stabbed a comrade pointblank in front of everyone, never mind the fact that he had lost his temper.
He couldn't make any excuses, since Allen awoke as a Noah and that seemed like a good thing but then he died instantly with an "Ugh!"

Ah, what tragedy. What comedy.
Touched by this heartbreaking tragedy, the Earl unwittingly shields his eyes with one hand as he looks up at the sky.
And then, comes the clincher.

"Thank you!!
That's the end of Allen Walker"

[TN: once again, the spoiler author's own opinion follows here. Not getting it at all. o.o]
Somehow, Earl, you're acting like a woman who wins love by stealing it
Declaring to her husband who is getting his just deserts by stamping his seal on the divorce papers,
"Then, I'll be taking that person for myself!! Thank you!!" (laughs)

That sort of melodramatic, sappy D.Gray-Man (laughs)

"Earl...
With that end in mind, you used Alma and Kanda...!!"
"No way... No way, NO WAYYYYY"

I've described Reever and Johnny here as if they are people watching a movie at the Saturday Wide Theatre, but it wasn't quite like that (laughs)
But if Bak and Fou hadn't been around, Allen would have been watched over at all times by Tokusa.,
And if Fou hadn't said anything to Allen about saving people, there wouldn't have been such a convenient development as Kanda stabbing Allen.

Well, judging from Allen's personality, he wouldn't have been able to leave either of them alone, and would try to save them both, even giving up his life to stop them.

Now, the heavenly Allen-sama (TN: no seriously)
He is shown into the consciousness of the 14th.
For some reason, only his left eye with the pentacle on it is shut.

"He's gone mad.
The Millennium Earl has gone mad.
He's become a puppet of destruction, having forgotten everything"

Allen slowly awakens in a dark forest.
A forest of death made only of black and white.
And there, Allen first meets the 14th.
Another of himself who has been living in his heart.
The man who was always that dark shadow on the other side of the window glass.
The real form of the shadow that looks at him with a smile.

He is bound with chains (that wrap around him) to a tall stone chair with two wings on its back.

The Allen and the 14th in his heart are wearing the same clothes.
A trench-coat and black suit. High leather boots. The same gloves.
And the bow-tie.
But it is obvious that the 14th is the older one.

The 14th smiles with the face of a young boy.
He laughs as he continues.

"And 'Allen'.
You too
Have become a mad puppet"

He was talking in Hiragana, you know, hiragana. (TN: uh, actually it was Katakana, but okay)

Slightly short black hair, deep dark Noah skin.
A pleasant youth, good-humoured and beautiful.
The hairstyle is different.
The "him" whom Allen knows has slightly frizzier hair.
Now, the hair is long just as when the awakening stopped.

But, Allen inadvertently mutters.

They look similar.
(No, different)
They are different, somewhere.
Something is different.

The 14th extends a hand towards a shocked Allen with a smile.
Just like a child trying to do something to a prey whose movements he can't grasp.

"I am the 14th Noah who will destroy everything.
'Nea'."


Now, at the very moment where Allen and Nea make contact, a strange phenomena occurs in Jordan.
Tim, who is alongside Link as he's doing his best fighting the Level 4, suddenly lights up.
At that blinding flash, the level 4s, too are all "MY EYES, MY EYESSSSS!"
If Tim was capable of unleashing such Pac Sparks (TN: no idea what this is. Maybe from another anime/manga/game), he should have done so earlier.

"Timcampy--!? Why...."

So shouts Link, but he finds himself at a loss for words when Tim has expanded to thrice his height.
Not to mention that he seems to be like a squirrel hiding stuff in his cheeks, just like a gigantic daifuku (a kind of rice cake)

"A (abata) U (ura) M (masarakato)" (TN: this is the black magic Cross Marian and that Skull cast during the invasion of HQ arc)

Tim reveals that he is some sort of magic weapon, releasing a great electric discharge from his mouth when he goes "Kaibara Madara" (TN: another black magic incantation, presumably. No link to Naruto's Madara, I imagine, lol. The kanji means "barrier destruction".)
Somehow, the North American barrier is shattered all the way from Jordan!!

Wh, what happened!?
Perhaps Tim is one of the keys to the arc, so he has the power to "cross dimensions"?
If he was hiding such great power, he should have helped Link out a little more.
But I guess it can't be helped since in principle, a golem will only listen to its master's commands.
As expected of Tim, who was created by the master (TN: ie, Cross), he didn't cut any corners.
However, without the involvement of the master, there's absolutely no way to break out of the deadlock against the Earl and the rest...

"The Hekiji barrier enclosing this branch has been...
Broken!!"

Cyril is amazed that all those ladybug-shaped barrier devices are all shattered simultaneously.
There's no skin off his nose even if the order has any help coming from the outside, but at this rate the hostage will get away and Link and the rest will come too, so their plans are ruined.
Above all, the very fact that there is someone capable of pulling something like this off is a great threat in itself.
As is to be expected, they don't need a wizard the level of the master, just a powerful wizard apart from those from the Chan house.
The CROW division are meant for actual combat, but they are unreliable because at their current level they are just a stronger form of the finders.
From now on, if they can't use the third (exorcists), they need a wizard no matter what.
It's difficult with just a golem capable of healing (and just a single time at that).

The structure of having normal humans providing support to exorcists is fine just as it is.

However, in the final battle, it just wouldn't do if they don't have exorcists with god-like powers like those capable of cheat-like recoveries like Kanda or Crowley who is able to use blood.
Thus, if humans don't use some enhanced abilities (TN: like cheat modes in games) to provide support on the battlefield, the possibility of a normal human with normal stamina like Johnny is just so slim that you can't help but wonder if perhaps he is the heart after all (laughs)
Oh dear, what a punch line.

Now, at the moment where the barrier is shattered, Allen's eye that was closed is activated.
Light flashes in the darkness, and Mana, appearing as a Pierrot, extends his hand, his face all smiles.

"Allen"

"Mana!!"

Allen responds to his call.
His left eye opens and the monocle is there too
And just then, it seems the Noah-fication is complete, and Allen returns to his consciousness.
He was stabbed by Mugen with all of Kanda's might, but it seems his life is totally not in danger.

Now, Allen, who has regained consciousness, notices the intense reaction of his left eye.

Allen lands on the ground and looks to where his left eye tells him.
At Alma, whom Kanda is carrying.

(What is it? What do you want to tell me, left eye?)

The left eye reveals it.
The truth.
Alma is an AKUMA.
Its source of power is the human soul.
The stronger the feeling of suffering at bring forced to do something it does not want to do, the more power the AKUMA receives.

The soul trapped in Alma.
Suffering, crying in anguish; such an appearance shows itself with Allen's left eye.

"Sto... p...
Don't look...
Don't look at me..."

My true form. My truth.
I don't want it to be known by him, just him, who has lived on for my sake.
Because I don't want to torment him any more than this.

The soul is bound by chains, and it drops the hands it was using the cover its eyes.
It looks at Allen with eyes wet with tears.
Because it is unable to fight against that left eye.

That is "her".
"That person" whom Yuu had been searching for, with whom he had made a promise, the fulfillment of which formed the sole reason for Yuu's living.
The girl Allen had seen in Kanda's past amongst the lotus flowers 9 years ago.

Allen is surprised at seeing the true Alma.

Kanda senses something is amiss with Allen after the latter has seen Alma's true form.
"!? Beansprout...?"

Allen is able to let others see the souls of AKUMA with his left eye.

"Alma, you are..."

Just like with Eliade (TN: remember her from the Crowley arc? lol), AKUMA appear to know that their souls can be seen by Allen.

"DON'T SAY IT!!

Alma yells at Allen, the expression on his face like that of a demon's.
I'll be Alma to the very end.
That would be good enough.
It can be no other way but this.

Just then, Alma emits light from his body.

"Alma...!?"

Kanda and Allen are surprised.

"This is really the end...
Die!!"

As it emits light, Alma constricts Yuu's neck with both hands.
A huge pentacle appears on his forehead.
That is the sign that means he's going to self destruct.

Allen, knowing that Alma is choosing that path, is shocked.
An AKUMA which self destructs cannot be saved by God.
Both Alma and "that person" would not be able to go to heaven.
As long as he is not destroyed by Kanda, there is no way to free Alma.
There is no way for them to proceed to the same afterworld apart from dying together and being broken.
Thus, he tries his earnest to kill Yuu, trying to get him to destroy himself too.

But, there is no way for Yuu to destroy Alma now.
Alma knew this.
That Yuu was too kind.
That because they were friends, Yuu is no longer able to hurt Alma.
Thus, there is no other choice left for Alma.

"Farewell ♥"

The Earl takes off his hat as he faces Alma to send him off (as he dies).
Alma has fulfilled his "role"
That is, to cause the true awakening of the 14th.

After that, Alma sacrifices himself to those feelings and is sent off with both respect and scorn.
As usual, he says all his words of thanks.

Alma is enveloped by a flash of light.
His body expands.
His eyes can only see Yuu reaching a hand out to him.
He continues to gaze at him, with the consciousness of being both Alma and "that person".

But if Yuu knew the truth, you would have lost all hope, so for me (TN: here Alma uses the more neutral pronoun, 'watashi'), for me (TN: Alma repeats the same line with the more male-sounding pronoun 'boku'. The two different ways of saying "me" probably to symbolize the difference in gender between the real and "perceived" Alma?)

His consciousness explodes.
This (TN: all the above stuff where he's apologizing to Kanda etc) Alma and "that person" think.
They think this, amidst flowers that fall and scatter in a boisterous dance.

A whole surface of lotus flowers we saw together in our last moments.
We weren't supposed to look at them under such circumstances, but even so, I wonder if our promise has been fulfilled?
