I think he's faked his own death so he can go and help from the shadows where the Millennium Earl can't get him and where he can search for the heart without anyone a) getting in his way, b) picking up on where he's searching, c) the millennium earl finding an information leak (maybe allen? maybe someone else he cares for?) and thus finding the heart before he can get to it.

So, i don't think he's dead. Could be wrong, but I don't think so, and certainly hope not. Cross is so cool!!!

yeah i agree with you, cross is like a weed that can't be killed easily. cross might be still be in the black order building that time when they investigated the scene. he might've used other people as to take his appearance. well, cross is good in magic so he can probably do that. Timcanpy can't locate him maybe its because cross did some changes with timcanpy cause when they got back, tim is always with cross(that was when allen is unconscious). Cross must've known that something like this would happen that the order will suspect him about his connection with the fourteenth so he prepared just when worst comes to worst. Well..... is i have said before.. Cross Marian is still alive and kicking and he is just in hiding.

hahahha hes not dead yet the story is just gettin started with cross marian xD just look at the scenes he left the judgement and his mask but how bout maria remember when he used maria to control himself to survive in the level 4's rampage? he might use maria again to crontol his dead body its either his soul is alive but he might have dead well all i want to say is he is alive xD

Even taking what we've recently seen with Apocryphos into consideration, I highly doubt Marian Cross is dead. I think that Hoshino, rather than trying to explain to us how Cross died, is trying to set up a situation so that it seems that he did. Or at least, trying to show us that the Church thinks he's dead.

I don't think at all that this was any hoax of Cross' doing. I think this may have worked into his favor, as now he can slip away from under the Order and Church's eyes, but there's no way Cross could have somehow gotten Apocryphos to help him stage his own murder.

Also, considering what we know about Cross and his personality, I'm pretty positive that he didn't side with the Noah, and that he didn't kill himself. Think about what we know about Cross (which isn't all THAT much, granted, but still). He worked with Neah against the Noah; I don't think the Earl would really appreciate his help in any form. And think back to the comment on a third side to the war. Cross isn't getting help from anywhere but that third, unrevealed side. The Order is probably really tired of his crap, even if he is a brilliant exorcist, and the Earl, as I said, despises him. I think Cross is simply using the confusion surrounding everything to get away while he can and begin his true role in the manga; a role that's yet to be seen.

So no, I'd say I'm fairly certain that he isn't dead, and that he'll come back eventually with a more important role than we've seen him with yet.

cross ain't dead. i'm willing to take that to the bank. he may not have judgment anymore but he still has maria and she can conceal him from everyone's sight. so i'm sure he's being all stealthy right now, especially since he now knows that they're out to kill him. i imagine he will also show up all wounded at mother's house and perhaps meet up with allen there. that'd be awesome :-)

That's a very interesting point, because they mention Judgement not being synced with him anymore, but they don't mention maria, so I think you're right there.

Hmmmm I dont actually read the Manga but sometimes I just cannot help myself when reading so yea I do not think he is dead not only was he gone when they came to check on him he left Timcanpy...I don't know why he left Judgment and his mask but there has to be some sort of reasoning behind this what do you all think?

i totally agree with u i don't think he's dead but u know what i just noticed can't allen use timcanpy to find cross marian?
i mean he wasn't arrested at that time soo.......

I've always wondered about Judgement being left behind. I mean, the Noah would probably have destroyed it, and I believe that Apocryphos would have taken it and done creepy things with it. I think the person(s) behind Cross's accident could even be someone we don't know yet. But he's alive alright. Maybe someone rescued him from the window, since he didn't look capable of escaping by himself with all that blood splattered around.

Don't forget Cross can use magic. He can turn Akuma around to help him like Chomesuke.
If he did remove himself from the window, I don't think it would be hard to use magic to either get himself out of there or conjure up a lot of his own blood.
Perhaps he even created that entire scene, although I find that a bit more unlikely seeing as he met Apocrapper not long before that.

Well, when the gaurds first checked the room, they showed that Marian's body was there unmoving and bleeding, then when they checked again the body was gone. Taking into account the fact that he's a magician, he probably casted a spell that saved him at last minute when apochrophos or something shot him in the head. Then after showing the gaurd's that he was "dead" he somehow seperated his link with his innocence "Judgement" and ran away 8D

....Thats what i hoped happened
