Hmm. I was under the impression that only Alma had akuma cells. Didn't they give him akuma cells from the egg because only he can withstand the akuma cells out of all the people they experimented on? But then I wonder how they manufactured Kanda and Alma all those years ago...

The way of manufacture may have been take one orphan+dark matter+innocence and place them in a pod and they start reacting to produce a second exorcist.
