Ah, I just reread chapter 168, this is after the conversation Cross had with Allen before he 'died'....
He told him that this war had 'another side' as well, and Lavi wanted to hear Bookman's opinion,
but Bookman seemed quite troubled with it, (he sweated and so on) ignoring the question Bookman told Lavi to follow him...

Do you think this could have had something to do with the previous 'Bookman junior' of Bookman? I think so.

I've always wondered why Bookman never talked about his previous apprentice, or if he even had one for that matter! I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Lavi's personal past at all....
The other side of the War...I guess from what we've seen, and been told from Sheryl, Bookman was involved with the Noah...so maybe he really is STILL involved with them? even though they weren't being contacted by th old man, he still could've been keeping a closer eye on them than he should have.
For Chapter 205...I've got an idea in my head that Road, Tyki, and Allen probably will end up with all the other Noah, and maybe the Earl will end up forcing the 14th to awaken...And then a confrontation with Lavi ends up with Bookman telling of the red heads past....
Well, that's my predistion and my thoughts I guess
