Default Movie Maker Problems

I have Windows Movie Maker on my computer, andn I have used it quite a fair bit for slideshows and other little things. Thing is, I want to use it to work with videos. Like D.Grayman amvs for example. I've got episodes, and I was able to cut out parts to have one omake scene (can't remember the episode right now), but then after that every time I put a video on, Movie Maker crashes and stops responding. It works fine for pictures and music, but not video. Is it my computer can't handle that, is it Movie Maker? I wanna make amvs someday.

Any help is appreciated.

OH~ I had this problem before~

I think this whole was about the fact that your computer might have not been able to handle it or it was the program itself. I think it's mainly the program though. I haven't touched my WMM in awhile and I think it's time that I start making them again as it has been a long time since I've done AMV's.

I'm not sure either though, but I think it might be the WMM. =/ I'd like to know what the problem could be too~ Of why it could be keep crashing on me cause I lost a really good AMV I was working on because it crashed on me.

^this it's the possible reason. I don't use WMM often really, but each time I use it I have to make sure that I have as few programs running as possible besides WMM to makes sure it won't crash... and I have only 1 gb of RAM. Dunno how much RAM your computer has, but since WMM runs all the codecs installed in your computer at the same time (even thought it uses only 1 video format or maybe 2 or 3), that it's really hard to handle for the computer so maybe you should check that... and trying to get another program maybe =/ (a better one actually )

Well, I don't know how to check my computer for that kind of thing. How do I check?

And sometimes when I use WMM, I don't have anything else open, and it will still crash. WMM is a program that came with the computer, so why should it crash? Thing is, I'd like to get a different program, but it might hurt my computer (it happened before when I downloaded something, and my computer had to get cleaned off completely).

well... to check the RAM memory of your computer you can do this:

right click on the "My Computer Icon" (assuming you're running Windows xp), then left click on "Properties". In the General tab you'll find the information about your system.

well, as I said in my previous post, I usually try to work with it and only running that program, but something that I missed to say before is that, even like that, the program works awfully slow. And yeah, WMM it's included in the Windows XP SP2 version but they made a mistake doing that because not all of the computers that are able to handle Windows XP smoothly can handle WMM... or maybe it's because part of the program it's corrupted... to know this I have to ask something: when the program crashes, which one is the error you get? or it just freeze?

hmm... weird. Dunno which program you've got, but if you downloaded it yeah... maybe it had a virus... that's the problem with downloads. Mah, I'm not a lot into video editing, but I've heard that Sony Vegas it's pretty good... in fact, the AMV's I've seen done with that program are usually really good so maybe you can check that one

(I think that it's pretty obvious at this point that I work as Tech Support XD)

Well, I checked my computer and it says I have .99 gb of RAM.

When I try to use WMM for video, it will just freeze once I try to adjust a clip. Once that happens, I'll try the Alt-Ctrl-Del, and then the program will say that it's not responding. And even then, it takes a few minutes or more until the program will actually close.

It's not that slow when dealing with just music or pictures, like I mentioned before, and that's it.

This'll probably be my last reply for now. I'll be away from a computer for like, two weeks () because of vacation. So yeah, if anything else comes up in this, I'll try to reply as soon as I get back!

I got a new computer for Xmas (Vista) and this time it lets me work with video. Now I have a different problem...

How do I get rid of the big green screen that pushes the video to the top??? The movie saves and plays, but it has that green screen going across and it ruins the whole thing. Again, I need some help.

I think this pretty much says it.

If I remember right, I didn't change any of the setting options when publishing the movie.

You can use other movie maker aside from windows movie maker. There's a lot of software you can use to make a AMV, like pinnacle video editor, Sony Vegaz, Adobe After Effects, etc. But if your PC is low specs, then don't use this programs I say, because they required high specs and faster PC to perform much as you expected.
