Black Order and the Pope (who is the Pope and what is he doing to help???)

Alright. Starting back from a previous rant:
Is the Pope incompetent or what?

I mean, he's the head of the "good" forces... Shouldn't he have some form of power himself?
Shouldn't he have numerous contacts? The Pope is usually a figure who you see to have an IMMENSE amount power, are they not? And if that's the case then why is the Black Order having such a hard time a) finding information about the Akuma b) finding resources to deal with them?
I mean sure, the finders are all well and good, but shouldn't there be some elite team who can find the information and help out the Black Order?

Take the Japan case for incidence. The ENTIRE island is under the Earl's control! Why did no one know about this??? Wouldn't it be a little obvious if an entire country was over taken by Akuma? Apparently not....

BUT! The opens up another question - Is Cross working in close leagues with the Pope and carrying out special orders?

Anyway, there's enough from me on the subject. What does everyone else think?

i dont know who he is, but you're right, why isn't he doing something... the exorcists belong to the pope, so he should do something.... maybe he can't because there are people in the vatican that hate the pope? maybe the same people that have killed cross.... maybe the pope dont even know how hard it is for the exorcists? maybe he is an evil person?^^"

but i dont think cross would take mission from the vatican, i think he hates the vatican, if i would hate something i wouldnt take missions from them, either

There's probably a portion of the people within the Vatican who are against the Pope. XD And I agree with Exkila that Cross hates the Vatican (maybe cause he wants to continue womanising and all that).

But then, so what if the Pope knew that the Earl's base was in Japan? He can't possibly send all the exorcists there to eliminate the Earl, right? I don't think the exorcists are strong enough. Even Cross couldn't injure him (maybe cause the Earl was not in his real form).

True about the lack of power, but you'd at least have thought that they would warn exorcists about dangerous territory wouldn't you? I mean shouldn't it be in mission briefs or something like that?

Thinking about it further, yeah, the Cross working for the vatican idea may not have been overly well thought out... =S

Well, maybe they didn't have enough time to get all the necessary materials ready? Since Lenalee and the rest were all already in Edo when Allen rejoined them and they would've known by then that the place was the Earl's base?

The Finders would have been killed once they set foot since most of the populace is Akuma.

As for the Pope's identity, he would be young man around his early 30's. It would be a twist if he knew the 14th on a personal level and respects him by keeping his identity a secret.

That it would be indeed... hehehe... that would be very entertaining... a 30 year old pope, hmm... wonder what that'd look like with the weird get-ups they tend to wear...

meh....I have nothing to add to the pope part of this conversation, but about what Trin was saying about the Japan case....
Usually, you'd think, yeah, someone should notice that this whole country is taken over, but you have to take into consideration the time period. In the early 1800s, Japan still had a closed country policy. So it's actually likely that no one really did notice.
Anyway, back to the original subject...

Let's get back to topic. I speculate that the Pope's attitude would be like Jade's from Tales of the Abyss(game version). That would be fun.
