Overall i'm not to excited about the OVA but i'll watch it anyway to see how it goes. I'm just glad that the producers are actually starting to do something.
the thing is, there is no OVA. :-/. there isn't even one being planned...

someone asked what an OVA was - it stands for Original Video Animation. usually, OVA's are movie-length and are one or two shots instead of multi-episodes like a TV series tends to be. also, OVA's tend to go off track and not follow the manga or the mangaka's original stories. the reason why it's called an original video animation is that they usually take existing characters but write in a whole new/original story. OVA's, in general, tend to be better quality than the anime series since it's more of a movie-like quality with better production values. there are even times when OVA's are done by totally different people/companies than the ones that did the anime series so it can look and feel like something totally random (i.e. no consistency at all).

in my experience, and it might be different for others, OVA's do look better but they don't follow the manga and often times go WAY off track. the only OVA's i've seen that are actually good are for "Hellsing." the worst OVA's i've seen are the ones for "Rurouni Kenshi." even though the animation quality looked really good, they totally effed up the feel of the manga and the mangaka's intent (to the point where watsuki even said he was not happy with what they did to his characters). after i watched those, i was so angry i wanted to go burn and pillage small towns.

if there was such a thing as a DGM OVA, i'd actually be curious 1.) because at this point, i'm so thirsty for more DGM due to the lack of of an anime and hoshino's rather whimsical publishing tendencies, that i'd take anything that had to do with DGM and 2.) because i'd like to see someone else's take on it because i'm disappointed about the directions in which some things are going.

but at this rate, i'll have to make do with fanfiction to feed my DGM needs in between the manga chapters. :-)
    I agree.
Given the "time off" is too long, the probability of having DGM OVA is very low.. Not to mention having a TV series sequel of DGM unlikely will happen. (Due to the fact its popularity is not comparable to that of Inuyasha D: )

Hmm.. If there's an OVA, why not watch it? Have been suffering from the lack of DGM all these years.. (LOL. XD)
Hopefully the testing will be good enough that allows a TV sequel of DGM. [Just like Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (aka Baka and Test Summon the Beast)]

Well, the reason why Hoshino releases chapters so slowly (once per month) is because she went on hiatus to many times when she was still in shounen jump. She either broke her wrist, or she got too sick to work.

anyway... one chapter per month is pretty fast you know? For normal standards thats quite fast. Furthermore, she has less assistants and she has to do more stuff herself.

The only good thing about chapters being released slowly, is that she would have more time to work on the art 8D

thing is a lot of mangakas release their work WEEKLY. hoshino used to do it weekly as well (since DGM was in weekly shonen jump) but then she went to monthly due to her constant injuries and illnesses. SJ thought she would do better being a monthly publication because she was having trouble keeping a weekly deadline. one good thing about the weekly format is that, because of the fast turn-around, each chapter is usually somewhere between 14-24 pages. when you put out a monthly manga, you are expected to put out more. not exponentially more (not like 4x the weekly amount) but somewhere between 40-50 pages, at least.

not only is hoshino publishing monthly now, her page output is usually under 40. furthermore, she has even missed some of her monthly deadlines (2 in the past year at least). when she sustained her wrist injury, she had more assistants to help her. even now, she has a staff that helps with background and inking. i think this is why a lot of people get upset when she misses her deadlines or her page output is minimal. i knew recently she had been working on her character book and such and that's why her chapters got pushed out but i just hope she doesn't cultivate a bad working relationship with her publisher. it looks bad on them when they print that the manga will hit the shelves on a certain date but it then it doesn't happen.

    I'm totally agree with you!
Man! I just wish that it will be around 40 pages per chapter release like any other monthly release.
