Oh jeez...Allen sounded odd to me D: Didn't really like it much, but I think I can tolerate it >_> I had that small small hope of a British accent, but sadly it is not to be...*sighs*
Didn't sound to bad - but I prefer the subbed like usual >.>
Ahahahaha doesn't sound too bad now, of course in the sense of it you've never heard the Japanese voiceovers. Just gotta be tolerant of it
Cookies? >:3
well hopfully they dont slaughter them like they did for many other great animes : / i do have to say that the original voiceovers are the way to go usually. we shall see though!
If I'm being honest...I don't like it.
And not just the dubbing for D.Gray-Man; ANY dubbing kind of grinds my gears. When they turn it into English, it makes everything sound so...so...
so cheesy, ya' know?! In my opinion, the only good dubbing I've ever heard was Inuyasha.
And I hope this doesn't offend the people who preffer dubs, I just think keeping it the original way (Japanese) is the way to go.
But I agree...If they gave Allen a British accent, I'm pretty sure I'd be ay-okay with that. :P
Oh gosh, I hate the dub for Inuyasha. It was, in your words, cheesy. I'm okay with the idea of dubs--there are some pretty good ones as far as I'm concerned, like FMA, FMP, SoltyRei... though I will agree that there definitely are some shows that must be watched in Japanese.
Anyway. The more I listen to that clip of Allen's voice, the less I like it... then again, that's a very small portion of his performance, so I suppose it may be a little unfair to judge it solely on that. The next ten days are going to kill me from anticipation, though.
Watching the first several episodes of the dub, Allen's VA sounded EXACTLY like the guy who voiced Henry Wong from Digimon Tamers.. But I looked it up and it wasn't the same guy.. huh! I'm getting a little more used to Allen's dub voice the more I listen to it.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of fans complaining that Allen should have a British accent. Perhaps a British fan should make a fan-dub clip, haha! I think that'd be great! XD
But no fake accent.. fake accents to me are like hearing nails down a chalkboard. x__x;;
I never liked dubs. Not only do they sound cheesy, they sound so FAKE! ok the english voice actors sound like thier chockin on popcorn when they voice act. furthermore, they actually have less talent the japanese ones. they are in a room with head phones and 3 second timers and speaker. The japanese just have speakers and no cues, and somehow the people already know when to go up. Iv'e seen videos of voice actors in action, and i see a huge gap between them.
In conclusion, I rather that people don't dub shows. If you can afford a TV, it means you can read, so what's so bad about having subs for life? Or just learn the language...
I like the D. Gray-man dub. Of course they can't act as good as the Japanese voices because they have lip flaps to match. I am pretty disappointed they took out the Lavi strikes though. Todd Haberkorn would have been a perfect English Lavi, but he plays Allen very well. And honestly as voice actors go, unless they cast a female in that role they can't get any better than Todd Haberkorn for Allen. Yes, I am a complete voice actor nerd. I've actually met Todd Haberkorn, and he's awesome.
